Petrina Yates is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with nearly 20 years’ experience working in Australia and internationally. She is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and a registered Medicare Provider.
Petrina has worked in government and non-government positions, including areas of out of home care, parent support, housing, policy, training, adoption, asylum seekers, and most recently private practice. Petrina works with individuals, groups, families, adults, children and young people.
Petrina utilises a collaborative approach when working with people, underpinned by training in Narrative Therapy, Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and Somatic Awareness. She has particular skills in trauma informed practice, working with diverse cultures, crisis intervention, loss and grief, and brief, strengths focussed therapy. Her interests include working with people who have experienced trauma, depression and anxiety, stress related disorders, suicidal ideation/behaviour, and family relationships including complex parent- child issues.
